The annual “4-H Day at the Capitol” has been announced by the State 4-H Office. All 4-H members and volunteers are invited to travel to Baton Rouge on Wednesday, June 1, 2011, to participate in this fun, educational event! Visit our historic state capitol building! See how our government works! Meet some of your Senators and Representatives who make up our Louisiana Legislature. The day will begin with a short program on the front steps of the Capitol at 10:00 a.m. Members from all over the state of Louisiana will participate. Please contact the 4-H office for more details.
Give Me Five for 4-H
All 4-H club members are being asked to “Give Me Five for 4-H!” Each month from January until the end of April 2011, club members are asked to donate loose change (nickels or larger please) to the Jefferson Parish 4-H Program. Club treasurers might want to decorate a container to pass around for each month’s collection. If a club does not have a treasurer, another member could be appointed for the job. The club contributing the largest donation will receive a cool prize! All money collected will be used for Jefferson Parish 4-H programming. It will be used to help defray costs and keep all 4-H activities and programs affordable to all interested members.
4-H Beef Poster Contest
4-H members are encouraged to create a poster telling about beef and/or beef products. The finished poster should be appropriate for use on a billboard. Posters should generate positive images of beef and beef products and not portray negative images of other food products (such as chicken, pork, etc.) Please see attached newsletter for more details.
