Jefferson Parish 4-H Foundation/Advisory Board Meeting Minutes

Treasurer – Report was printed and distributed.

Grants, Awards, and Scholarship -- We have two applicants. A committee will meet to decide on the amount each applicant will receive.

Commodity Cookery/Ambassador Contest -- Contests to be held Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, at Lakeside Mall. Volunteers are needed to judge food.

Spring Garden Show -- April 2-3, 2011, at City Park in New Orleans. Volunteers are needed to help with the Kids Discovery Tent and the fundraising booth.

Smart Bodies – All Body Walks have been completed for this year. We will meet in March 2011 to discuss plans for the upcoming year.

Geaux Green – The clothing drive was a huge success. More than 600 pieces of clothes were collected and distributed to needy people in the community. We have two other contests coming up. The container garden and the poster contest are both due next month. Posters and container gardens will be on display at the spring garden show April 2-3, 2011, at City Park.

T-Shirt Design Contest -- Entries are due at the end of this month. Once entries are in, copies will be made so the board can vote on a design.

Open House -- Our office open house will be held Wednesday Feb. 9, 2011, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. All are invited.

Fund Raisers -- Suggestions include selling 4-H tote bags for $5.00 and selling a box of pralines for $5.00 each at the Spring Garden Show. Another suggestion is “Give Me Five For 4-H.” 4-H members are asked to give “five” meaning coins that are in increments of five such as nickels, dimes, quarters, etc.) until the end of April 2011.

Nominating Committee -- Ms. Margie Carmedelle has accepted the position of Board Chairperson. She will replace Ms. Pat Meyer as Chairperson. Mary Hennegan is Past President of JVFC. She will take Jo Ann Bonck’s place.
