The SNAP-Ed program provides free educational programs and classes for anyone who receives or is eligible to receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. The goal of SNAP-Ed is to increase, within a limited budget, the likelihood that persons eligible for SNAP will make healthy food and lifestyle choices that prevent obesity, consistent with the most recent dietary advise reflected in the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and USDA MyPlate.
Family and consumer sciences agents and trained nutrition educators provide services in 64 parishes.
