The Iberville Parish 4-H Cloverbuds had a grand time at their Chinese New Year Workshop on January 31 at the Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service. Participants learned about the Chinese culture and their New Year Holiday. The 4-H Cloverbuds made Chinese dragons and colored dragon masks to wear for the Chinese New Year dragon dance. Parent volunteer, Thao Pham, taught participants how to eat with chopsticks.
Workshop participants included Alexe’ Brown, Deniya Morgan and Mya Griffin from Dorseyville Elementary. Parker Jackson, LeAnn Bueche, Jacko Xiao, Maggie Dunn, Vinh Pham Benjie Xiao and Chanh Pham from St John Elementary. Reese Carbo and Kaci Thibodeaux from MSA-W. Paris Smith from Iberville Elementary. 4-H Program Assistant Kathy Jones, along with volunteers Lisa Jackson, Susan Persilver, Thao Pham, Alison Hebert and Susan Simoneaux assisted with the workshop.
The 4-H Cloverbud Program offers age appropriate educational programming to Iberville Parish Headstart students and students in K-3rd grades. The program is designed to build life skills, promote healthy intellectual activity and develop participants socially, emotionally and physically.
