The Sugarcane Festival Livestock Show (beef breeding, commercial heifers, market lamb, and market goat) is open to
4-H and FFA members from the designated sugarcane producing parishes. The rabbit show is opened to children between the ages of 9-20 years old. Exhibitors must not have completed their senior year of high school. Beef Breeding, Market Lamb, Market Goat classes, as well as a Commercial Heifer show, and the Rabbit Show are open to junior exhibitors from the sugarcane producing parishes. Baby Beef/Steer, market hog, Iberia market goat and Iberia market lamb exhibition is restricted to Iberia exhibitors only.
Enclosed is a schedule of events, the general rules and official entry forms for the livestock and rabbit shows. Beef breeding, commercial heifers, market goat and market lambs will be charged a $10.00 fee per animal. Entry fees will be used to pay for awards.
Camper hook-ups are available on a first come first serve basis. The phone number for SugArena is 337-365-7539. Wood shavings will also be available for purchase. SugArena is located off of Hwy 3212 in New Iberia between Hwy 90 and Admiral Doyle Drive. (Call the Iberia 4-H office if a map is needed or go to sugarena.com)
**All exhibitors must check-in upon arrival.**
Exhibitors should have possession of their animal thirty days prior to the show. Exhibitors should bring updated health papers to the show. Show officials and/or local veterinarians will be checking health papers. Without proper health papers that have been checked, 4-H’ers will not be allowed to show. Exhibitors should return their completed livestock entry forms along with registration papers (beef breeding) and entry fees, made payable to Iberia 4-H Foundation, to the Iberia Parish 4-H Office, Suite B-110, 300 Iberia St., New Iberia, LA 70560 by Friday, September 7, 2012. ENTRIES RECEIVED BETWEEN SEPTEMBER 10-14 WILL BE ACCEPTED BUT ENTRY FEES WILL DOUBLE ($20.00 PER ANIMAL) ENTRIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AFTER SEPTEMBER 14TH.
Rabbit forms should mailed to our office by Wednesday, September 19th. There will be a $3.00 per rabbit entry fee this year for rabbits pre-entered, so that premiums can be paid. A $5.00 entry fee will be charged for rabbits entered the day of the show. Each rabbit exhibitor must pre-enter using the enclosed entry form.
** No individual will be permitted to make more than one entry under any class number in any department with the exception of market lambs, market goats and commercial heifers. **
