Workshops

The 2022 Evangeline Parish 4-H Electric Workshop will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2022. The morning session will be from 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. and the afternoon session will be from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Each session can hold 25 4-H members. The workshops will be held at the 4-H Office in Ville Platte at 230 Court Street. This workshop is open to all 4th - 8th graders.

This year's electric workshop is Mission to Mars!

Mars Base Camp combines mechanical engineering, physics, computer science and agriculture to explore sending you on a mission to Mars. You will use enigeering skills to build a Mars Rover, simulate landing it on the Mars surface while discovering important features to set up a Base Camp, and learn about biology, environmental science, and agriculture to grow nutritionally efficient food on Mars.

There are only 50 sports for this workshop and it is based on a first come first serve basis!

We accept cash, checks, money orders and are now accepting credit/debit cards. Please keep in mind that if you use a credit card you will be charged a 4% transaction fee. Also, if paying by credit/debit card you can register over the phone.

2022 Electric Workshoppdf

The 4-H Pancake Workshop will be held on Tuesday, December 20th from 9:00 am to 11:00.. The workshop will be held at Ville Platte High School Cafeteria. 4-H members will learn to follow a recipe, measure ingredients, and create and cook their own pancakes! This workshop is open to all 4th-8th graders. There is limited space available, so send your registration form and fee of $10.00 to the 4-H Office as soon as possible. There are only 50 spots in this workshop.

Make checks or money order payable to Evangeline Parish 4-H.

The deadline to turn in your form and $10 check is November 30th or until full.

2022 Pancake Workshoppdf

The Birdhouse Building Workshop will be held on February 20, 2023 at the 4-H Office. There will be two sessions to pick from. Participants will learn to use tools like a hammer, screwdriver, and pliers to construct their birdhouse and then will paint it to bring home. Chose your session below and drop off or mail to the 4-H Office. You may also pay over the phone with a credit/debit card, a 4% transaction fee will apply. The cost of this workshop will be $10 dollars. Deadline will be February 13th or until full.

We will offer a morning session from 8:30 - 11:00 a.m. and an afternoon session from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

2023 Birdhouse Workshoppdf

This workshop will be held on May 17th, 2023 for 4-H Members in 6th—8th grade at the Ville Platte Court House from 8:30 A.M.—3:00 P.M.

We will visit the Tax Assessor’s Office, Sherriff’s Office & Dispatch, Clerk of Court, District Attorney, Judge’s Chamber, and inside the Court Room. There are only 20 spots available. The cost of Citizenship workshop is $15.00. This includes a T-Shirt that we will all wear that day and lunch.

4-H citizenship programs empower young people to be well-informed citizens who are actively engaged in their communities and the world. Youth learn about civic affairs, build decision-making skills and develop a sense of understanding and confidence in relating and connecting to other people. These life skills help grow 4-H youth into true leaders.

Deadline to submit form and $15 fee is April 28th. If there are more than 20 applicants by the deadline, we will do a live drawing on Facebook to decide who attends.

Do you like to fish?Or would like to learn basic skills for fishing?Well, we have just the thing for you!The Evangeline 4-H Fishing Clinic will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Crooked Creek from 9:00 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. This workshop is open to ALL 4TH - 8TH GRADERS.

Hands On Activities Include:

¨ Fish Identification

¨ Knot Tying

¨ Casting Instructions

¨ GPS/GIS Skills

¨ Water Safety

¨ Fisheries Management and Regulations

¨ Fishing Tournament

A limited number of fishing poles will be provided on this day. If you own a fishing pole, please bring it. We will provide live bait, however you may bring your own lures. There will be a registration fee of $10.00 and an (optional) t-shirt for $10.00.Register by filling out registration form. Send your registration, fee, and t-shirt (optional) money to the 4-H Office by March 28, 2023. Make check payable to the Evangeline 4-H Foundation. Meal and snacks will be provided.
