Challenge Camp at Tickfaw State Park

On April 25-27, 2011, East Feliciana Parish 4-H club members attended Challenge Camp at Tickfaw State Park. There were 14 youth in grades 7 and 8 from East Feliciana Middle School who attended along with two 4-H agents. These 4-H club members were able to experience camping and the outdoors as well as participate in educational activities.

On Monday night, the campers participated in the Amazing Tickfaw Challenge. This included activities from fishing to water balloon tosses with the first team completing all 10 challenges declared the winner. Then, on Tuesday, participants rotated through educational classes on healthy living, nature, the environment and boat building. That night there was a dance, which was fun for all. Each night there was a night hike, campfir, and plenty of time for s ‘mores while 4-H club members from all around Southeastern Louisiana got to know each other and develop new friendships.

Challenge Camp is an annual event for 4-H club members in 7th and 8th grades and it gets better every year. For more information about Challenge Camp or 4-H in East Feliciana Parish, please call Ryan Barnette or Ursula Shaw at 225-683-3101.
