During the 2022 year, EFNEP enrolled participants throughout East Baton Rouge Parish. One professional and 3 paraprofessionals taught EFNEP classes at a variety of locations. Our target audience included limited-resource individuals. Participants included youth grades Kindergarten through 12th grade and adults who are raising youth. Participants completed enrollment and exit surveys which included questions to assess nutrition knowledge and behavior changes.

East Baton Rouge Parish EFNEP Reach:

  • 3032 residents participated in EFNEP educational series
  • 113 adults enrolled in nutrition education series
  • 2919 youth enrolled in nutrition education series
  • 388 total family participants
  • 67% of EFNEP adult participants reported income at or below 185% of poverty level

2022 East Baton Rouge Parish EFNEP Results:

Adult Outreach:

  • 93% improved food resource management practices
  • 98% improved diet quality
  • 68% improved physical activity behaviors
  • 82% improved food safety practices
  • 39% improved food security

Youth Outreach:

  • 74% improved ability to choose foods according to the Dietary Guidelines
  • 41% physical activity practices
  • 50% acquired skills to be food secure
  • 49% improved food safety practices
  • 57% improved ability to prepare simple, nutritious affordable food
