We are very grateful to the 4-H Junior Leaders for volunteering their time! They assisted youth in the Children's Art Tent and the petting zoo, helped with face painting and sold 4-H hot sauce. Youth visiting the festival were able to participate in several activities free of charge.4-H Junior Leader Club
This after-school project club for 4-H'ers in grades 7-12 met in October and participated in a "Pocket Magnet" demonstration presented by Colby Ainsworth, Destiny Nappier and Krista Weems. The next meeting is scheduled for Nov. 8, 2011 at the Pre-Kindergarten Center from 4:15-5:45 p.m. Agenda items include collecting canned food items, collecting Christmas gifts for children and planning the Christmas social. Club dues are $20 which includes a 2011 Caldwell 4-H t-shirt.Fashion, Food and Fitness Club
This after-school project club for 4-H'ers in grades 4-6 met in October and made hand tied scarves. The club participated in this hands-on activity as well as learning four different ways to wear a scarf. This club meets again on Nov. 3, 2011 at Union Central Elementary from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Club dues are $10.4-H T-shirts

Ticket sales begin on Monday, Nov. 14, 2011 for a hamburger lunch to be held on Friday, Dec. 9 at the First United Methodist Church in Columbia, La. Plates will include hamburgers, chips and dessert and may be picked up from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Delivery can be arranged for orders of 15 plates or more. Tickets are $6 each with proceeds going to the Caldwell 4-H Foundation. If you are interested in donating a homemade dessert (cake, cookies, brownies), contact the Caldwell 4-H office at 318-649-2663 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org

The 4-H Fall Foods Festival will be held Monday, Nov. 14, 2011, beginning at 8:45 a.m. at Union Central Elementary school. The preregistration deadline for this event is Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011. Please preregister by phone at 318-649-2663 or via email at email@example.com
stating contestant's name, school, grade, dish category and/or Consumer Foods Judging contest. Dish categories are ground beef, beef any other, chicken, egg, rice main dish, rice any other, pecan and sweet potato. Each 4-H'er may enter one dish per category. All dishes must be chilled and transported in an insulated ice chest with ice. Dishes not properly chilled will be disqualified. Recipes should be submitted on the recipe form available at the 4-H office or the Fall Foods Festival
page on this site. Bring two copies of the recipe to the contest. The Consumer Foods Judging contest has been added to the Foods Festival. 4-H'ers who do not want to enter a dish can still compete during the Festival by entering this event. Registration will begin at 8:45 a.m. Please bring at least two canned food items to be donated to a local food pantry. Donated items will be accepted at the 4-H office during preregistration or at the contest site.Fashion Revue and Consumer Decision Making Contest
The 4-H Fashion Revue and Consumer Decision Making contest will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 5, 2011 at the Grayson Elementary school auditorium. All contestants are required to attend. Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011 is the deadline to turn in hand-made garments, shirts and data forms for this contest. Clothing construction categories are apron, tops or bottoms and complete outfit. Decorated shirt categories are shirts promoting 4-H and other. Ready-to-Wear contest categories are grades 4-6 and grades 7-12. Consumer Decision Making Contest categories are grades 4-6 and grades 7-12. First, second and third place winners will receive cash awards. Contest details can be found on the 4-H Fashion Revue

Entries for the Caldwell 4-H Photography Contest are due to the 4-H office by Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011. Categories are story or series, plants or animals, people, structures or buildings. Photographs must be taken by the 4-H club member during the 2011 calendar year. 4-H'ers may enter from one to three categories.
