If you are planning to participate in the LSU AgCenter Livestock Shows and have not contacted the Ascension Parish Office to let them know your intentions of showing, please do so ASAP as important forms and information will be sent out to livestock exhibitors as we move into the 2024-2025 school year. All members must be enrolled in 4-H Online and animals entered into 4-H Online (with registration papers and LA Bred numbers if applicable) by the possession deadline.
2024-2025 Important Livestock Dates:
October 13- Livestock Family Day, General Meeting, and Clinics
October 15- Deadline to contact the office to express intent to show
August 16- Possession and Validation Deadline for Market Steers. All steers must be listed in 4-H online by the end of August.
November 11- Possession deadline for all breeding cattle & dairy, exhibition poultry, all sheep, and all goats. Validations are due for market and commercial beef & dairy heifers, lambs, ewes, goats & does. All of these animals must be listed in 4-H online!
November 18- Possession deadline for miniature cattle. Mini Beef Should be listed in 4-H Online by this date.
November 22- Possession deadline for swine. Validations are due for market and commercial swine. All of these animals must be listed in 4-H Online
November 22- Fair Entry for ALL species (cattle, goats, poultry, rabbits, sheep, & swine) must be complete along with parish and district entry fees.
January 17 & 18- Ascension Parish Livestock Show; Lamar Dixon
January 29- February 1- South Central District Show; Lamar Dixon
February 11-18- LSU AgCenter State Livestock Show; Lamar Dixon
**REQUIREMENT** Annual ethics training is required for all exhibitors to participate in the livestock shows. There is a $12 annual charge for each exhibitor. The certification number, found on each exhibitor’s certificate which can be downloaded upon completion, will be a required field in Fair Entry and cross-checked with reports from YQCA.
