The opportunity to be a camp counselor is one of the greatest responsibilities one can achieve as a 4-H member. Camp counselors play an integral role in making sure that the camp runs smoothly and that attendees have the most enjoyable and educational experiences. As a camp counselor, young adults should have outgoing, caring personalitiesand be willing to assist agents and adult volunteers to the highest degree. In order to be considered fora camp counselor, 4-H members must be 14 years or older, submit a written application (provided by the agent)with a letter of recommendation, receive a minimumof 6 hours of hands on counselor training, go through an orientation with the agent, and be willing to attend any other trainings required by the agent and/or camp in which they are planning to attend. Camp counselors are utilized for 4-H Summer Camp and for LOST Camp each year.
