Pet Show & Decorated Pumpkin Contest

ll 4-H members in 4th-12th grades are invited to participate in the Pet Show and Decorated Pumpkin Contest on October 22, 6 p.m. in Barns 7/8 Building at Lamar Dixon Expo Center. Registration for all events begins at 6 p.m. The pet show, costume judging & decorated pumpkin judging will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Pet Show Information:

  • $2.00 registration fee for pets.
  • All "Pet" type animals welcomed, except rabbits. Rabbits show in the livestock show
  • Only 1 pet per child. Siblings ONLY can share a pet, but it is only allowed to enter the ring once.
  • All well-behaved "pets" are welcomed, but they must be up to date on vaccinations and restrained (on a leash or in a carrier/cage).
  • DO NOT bring AGGRESSIVE animals or those that are too large for the 4-H member to handle on their own.
  • Only pet show participants, judges, and set ring help are allowed in the ring.
  • 4-Hers must have completed the 4-H online enrollment to participate.
  • All classes will have a "best-dressed" pet contest. Feel free to get creative with the costumes of you and your pet.

Decorated Pumpkin Contest Information:

  • No registration fee. Registration is 6pm-6:30pm.
  • Pumpkins must be picked up when judging is complete.
  • There will be Cloverbud, Junior, Intermediate, an Senior Age Divisions
  • All pumpkins will be eligible to enter the school contests, except carved.
  • Categories: Carved, Prettiest, Character, 4-H Spirit, Any Other


Costume Contest:

  • There will be registration for the Human Costume Contest near the Pumpkin registration table.
  • Back numbers will be distributed for all costume participants and must be worn throughout the evening until costume awards have been announced.
  • Judges will walk around to judge the costumes throughout the night.
