All enrolled Ascension 4-H members are eligible to participate in the 4-H BINGO card contest. The first students to receive BINGO by December 16 will receive a prize and the first 5 who receive blackout by April 18 will also receive a prize. Below are the rules for the contest:
As part of our November club citizenship lesson, students learned more about the American Flag and things that represent America. As an additional component to the citizenship lesson and an added contest option, students can design their own flag to represent their community.
Just as the American flag has 50 stars, respresenting the 50 states and 13 stripes representing the 13 original colonies, students should think of symbols or things that represent the community in which they live. They can use symbols to represent people, places, and things that are familiar within the local community around them. Students should submit their name, grade, and school along with their created flag design. Once the design has been created and colored with markers, crayons, or colored pencils, students should answer the following question to submit with their flag: Explain what the symbols and colors on your flag represent in your community and what the flag means to you.
Flags may be publicly displayed and shared with the Ascension Parish Government and School Board.
To enter the flag contest, email all flag designs to cbrady@agcenter.lsu.edu or drop them off at the 4-H Office.
