Contest Description: 4-H'ers can enter items they have made for 4-H projects. Exhibits will be evaluated on originality, quality of construction, and appropriateness to project. Open to all 4-H'ers regardless of project enrolled in. No pre-registration for this contest is required.
*Exhibits can be turned in prior to Demo Day or during the registration period that day. Once items have been set up, participants will be asked to leave. Items can begin being picked up at approximately 11:00am. All items not picked up will be transported to the Ascension Extension Office where they will be discarded or used for 4-H programming after 1 week.
Grade Divisions:
- Cloverbud – K-3rd (non-competitive)
- Junior – 4th - 5th
- Intermediate – 6th - 8th
- Senior – 9th - 12th
Rules:
1. Name of the exhibitor, grade, and school should be taped to the back or bottom of each item. Items without proper identification will be disqualified.
2. No FOOD or ANIMALS.
3. 4-Hers can enter only 1 item per category.
4. Items must have been made by the child during the last 12 months and never previously exhibited.
Exhibit Categories:
- Arts & Crafts (Accessories, Jewelry, Paper, Plastic, Nature, Wood, Other) Enter any type of project or craft you have worked on through your 4-H projects.
- Photography (5x7 framed prints) Contestants can enter no more than 1 entry per category. There will be 3 different photography categories:
- Animals,
- Nature, or
- People
- Sewing All sewing entries should be non-wearable. Pillowcases, mittens, ornaments, etc. are all items that can be sewn and entered into this category. All sewing items should be completely sewn by the 4-H member. (younger members can have assistance from family members). Sewing enhancements and embellishments should be entered in recycled or arts and crafts categories. Wearable items should be entered into the Dress Review (Formerly Sew with Cotton) Contest.
- Project Exhibit– Educational Trifold Display Board created to display information about 4-H’ers individual 4-H project. The project exhibit should inform the judges about their 4-H project. Small props to enhance the project display are allowed.
- Recycled Art- Create art using recycled items that would otherwise be thrown away, like paper, plastic, rubber, metals glass, etc.
- **NEW** Decorated Wreath- Create a wreath or door swag out of garland, mesh, or any other materials. Materials such as mesh, ribbon, etc. can be attached to the wreath with hot glue or wire. Wreaths will be judged on creativity and construction. Wreaths can be holiday, 4-H, or any other theme.
Judges Look For: Originality, quality of construction or photograph, and appropriateness to project, theme content. For photography, judges may also look at lighting, clarity, detail, category focus and appropriateness.
