Mission: To prepare undergraduate and graduate students for professional careers in the global textile/apparel industry by offering opportunities to: gain technical and creative knowledge and develop leadership skills; refine critical thinking skills; nurture curiosity; and become engaged in the global industry.
Vision: To support the textile/apparel industry in the development of new economic and research opportunities by fostering expertise in the area of product development, including the entire process from inspiration, research, development, and dissemination of the final product to the ultimate consumer within the global marketplace.
Department Description: The Department of Textiles, Apparel Design, and Merchandising provides an integrated and applied, multi-functional, academic and research approach to engage students, faculty, and industry partners. With a focus on textile/apparel product development using specialty materials, the department has achieved national prominence. Expertise in the product development area includes: textile science; the historic and cultural areas; inspiration, design, execution and merchandising of apparel/textile products.
