Turfgrass Insider Sod Webworms

Tropical sod webworms (Herpetogramma spp.) are creating havoc on home lawns, especially St. Augustine grass. I am getting calls from all over the state but particularly in the Baton Rouge area. I am seeing sod webworms and to a lesser extent army worms in the same yards. At least every other St. Augustine grass yard in Baton Rouge has some degree of damage. These two moth larvae together have caused more damage than I have ever seen in home lawns. Lawn care professionals, get your spray boots on. Tropical sod webworms are one of the most destructive pests of St. Augustine grass and carpet grass. Just drive around and look at all the damage.
