Aaron Dale Istre, a 2003 graduate in Environmental Management Systems, was one of two soldiers honored during a Memorial Day Ceremony held at Louisiana State University on May 30. Istre, a captain in the U.S. Army, died during a training mission outside Kandahar, Afghanistan, on March 24, 2012.
Dr. LaShunda Anderson, the first African-American woman to earn a Ph.D. in Agronomy from LSU, was named one of the inaugural class of Alcorn State University’s Top 40 under 40 in the 140th anniversary year of the founding of the University, the nation’s first historically black land-grant institution.
