1970: The Department moved to new Life Science Building and the insect collection was located in Room 575.
1971: Dr. Joan Chapin joined the Department of Entomology faculty. She served as both the Director and Curator of the LSUC. Dr. Chapin worked tirelessly to add specimens to the collection and to provide expert determinations on the LSUC material. Additionally, Dr. Chapin grew the literature library of the LSUC through reprint requests and personal acquisitions, all the while continuing her studies on the family Coccinellidae. She kept a personal library of vintage books and papers as well.
1986: Cheryl Barr was hired into the first full-time curator position in the department, while she concurrently worked on her M.S. degree in Entomology. She left this position in 1989 to become collections manager at the Essig Museum at the University of California-Berkeley.
1990: Victoria Moseley Bayless was hired as the second curator of the LSUC.
1993: Dr. Joan Chapin retired from her position but continued to volunteer her time at the museum until her death in 2014 at the age of 85.
