The mission of the Entomology Club is to promote education of entomology through extension and outreach, aid in networking and career building, and generate entomological interest while encouraging diversity and inclusion in our community.

The Entomology Club at LSU provides its members with a wide range of activities and learning opportunities. We conduct entomology and arthropod related outreach events throughout the state of Louisiana, to teach citizens more about the wonders of insects and their importance in our lives and the natural world. We also host many fun and exciting events throughout the year including insect collecting trips, tailgates, chili cook offs, pot lucks, and even cricket spitting competitions.

Each year, our club members have a ton of fun creating festive Mardi Gras Masks that feature the bright green metallic elytra of jewel beetles. These masks represent Louisiana culture with an entomological flare. We sell these masks to raise funds for our annual Dennis Ring Graduate Student Travel Award, which provides funds for a deserving graduate student to travel to the ESA Southeastern Branch Meeting.

This club provides a space to interact with other students and faculty who are passionate about insects and the environment in a friendly and inclusive manner. You can be involved as much as you want to and everyone is welcome, whether you study entomology or not!
