Irrigation Basics for Irrigation Landscape Contractors

W Constant, Sheffield, Ron

This course provides a basic overview of design and management principles related to landscape irrigation.

In Louisiana, all irrigation landscape contractors interested in installing commercial or residential irrigation systems must be licensed through the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry.

A Landscape Irrigation Contractor License is required for anyone who constructs, installs, connects, repairs, maintains, improves or alters any portion of a landscape irrigation system, including the required wiring for that system. The law also requires that licensees obtain a water supply protection specialist endorsement from the State Plumbing Board before connecting to a public or private water supply system.

Many contractors seeking licensing have found this information as well as those presented in Basic Irrigation for Contractors Workshops extremely useful for preparing for the Louisiana licensing exam.
