Mission Statement of the Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service

At the Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service, we Listen to the voices of our stakeholders and communities, we Care deeply about their needs, we Educate with research-based knowledge, and we Serve with unwavering commitment.

As a vital part of the LSU AgCenter, our mission is to Educate, Innovate, and Improve the lives of Louisiana's citizens and beyond. For over a century, we have partnered with individuals, families, farmers, landowners, gardeners, and youth across the state to bring practical solutions and transformative knowledge to every parish.

We are dedicated to fostering positive change by extending the reach of university research into the hands and homes of all Louisianians. From strengthening families and communities to cultivating the next generation of leaders, we stand by our promise to Listen, Care, Educate, and Serve—today and for the future of Louisiana. Our overarching goal is to deliver reliable, timely and applicable information that is directly aligned with stakeholder needs. Information delivery is accomplished through a variety of methods, including on-farm demonstrations, workshops, field days, school club meetings and camps. We also extending information via our website, newsletters, mass media, social media, and publications.

We have extension faculty located at 5 regional centers, 12 academics departments and in all 64 parishes of the state. Find your local extension office here.


LSU AgCenter extension programs are a conduit from the University. Extension programming is statewide and is funded by federal, state and local governments. We work very closely with our community and industry partners throughout the state, with an overall goal of bringing research-based information about agriculture, 4-H and youth development, healthy communities and natural resources and the environment to the people of Louisiana.
