David Boethel, vice chancellor of the LSU AgCenter, received the Distinguished Service Award at the Tri-State Soybean Forum held in January in Oak Grove.

A professor of entomology since 1983, Boethel began his career with the LSU AgCenter in 1974 at the Pecan Research and Extension Station in Shreveport.

Boethel received his doctorate in entomology from Oklahoma State University and his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Texas A & M University. He was named the outstanding alumnus in the OSU Department of Entomology in 1992.

"Dr. Boethel has had a major impact in the soybean industry and its profitability not only in the tri-state area but in the southern United States," said Robert Hutchinson, LSU AgCenter regional director in northeast Louisiana.
