BATON ROUGE, La. – The Louisiana Turfgrass Association will hold its annual conference Jan. 7, 2016, at Tiger Stadium on the LSU campus.

Professionals will have the opportunity to gather information from leading researchers. Some of the talks address managing turf in shade, best landscape plants for golf courses, managing diseases like gray leaf spot on St. Augustine grass, nutrient management and pesticide runoff research.

Attendees can receive pesticide recertification with the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry and continuing education units from the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America. Participants will also have the opportunity to network with peers from across the state and visit vendor booths.

Registration for participants is $50 per person. Vendor booths, which include conference registration fees for up to three booth representatives, are $350. Those interested in attending the conference or being a vendor at the event are encouraged to register online at www.laturf.net.

Same-day registration will open at 7:45 a.m., and the conference will begin at 8:50 a.m. with the last presentation starting at 3:45 p.m. Lunch will be provided.

“We’ve tried to reach out to the entire turfgrass industry. We have sod farmers, sports turf managers and lawn care professionals here. It’s not just a golf course event; it’s more of a turfgrass industry-type event now,” said Ron Strahan, LSU AgCenter turf specialist and a coordinator of the event.

Nearly 200 people attended the 2015 conference.
