International tourism workshop set for Aug. 13 in Vicksburg

VICKSBURG, Miss. – A tourism workshop on Aug. 13 will be aimed at attracting international tourists to local communities.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Lower Mississippi River Museum, 910 Washington St. in Vicksburg.

“This workshop will explore ways to take your community’s customer relations skills to a higher level by learning to attract and entertain international visitors,” said LSU AgCenter agritourism coordinator Dora Ann Hatch. “Whether you are looking to attract tour groups, families on holiday, retirees or business people considering relocation, the time is right to be ready for global tourism.”

The cost for attending the workshop is $25, including a lunch.

The workshop is sponsored by the Miss-Lou Rural Tourism Association and Beacon Consultants. Participating partners are the Mississippi State University Stennis Institute, MSU Extension Service, Vicksburg Main Street and Mississippi Development Authority Division of Tourism.
