The LSU AgCenter Hammond Research Station will hold its annual landscape horticulture field day for nursery, landscape and garden center professionals on Oct. 11.

The field day is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon with lunch following, said resident coordinator Regina Bracy.

“One of the features at this event will be 56 varieties of caladiums in sun and shade environments,” Bracy said. “We’ll discuss whether caladiums grow best in full sun.”

Other topics on the agenda are:

– Downy mildew on impatiens.

– New landscape shrub roses from Star Roses and Greenheart Farms.

– Disease resistance in Drift groundcover roses.

– Pruning in your landscape with plant growth regulators.

No registration for the field day is required.

For more information about the field day, contact the Hammond Station at 985-543-4125. The station is approximately six miles east of Hammond at 21549 Old Covington Highway (La. Highway 1067).
