Four Pointe Coupee Parish 4-H members won a $1,000 scholarship to divide among them at the Second Annual Great American Seafood Cook Off 4-H Edition in New Orleans on Aug. 12, according to Quincy Cheek, the contest superintendent and associate extension agent in Rapides and Grant parishes.

The four were Katie LaCour, Natalie Hardy, Annie Gosserand and Grant Jourdan. The team won first place with a Louisiana seafood medley of crawfish cakes and shrimp and corn bisque.

A team from Vermilion Parish also entered – Lindsey Palma, Amy Duhon and Sierra Sam – as well as teams from Mississippi, Arkansas, South Carolina and Oklahoma, Cheek said.

The annual competition is for high school 4-H members and is sponsored by the Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board, National 4-H, Piccadilly Corp., the Louisiana 4-H Foundation and the LSU AgCenter.
