The LSU AgCenter is seeking photos for its 2011 Get It Growing Lawn and Garden Calendar.

Louisiana photographers can submit their photos of flowers, plants and gardens for an opportunity to have their work selected for the calendar.

Published annually since 2005, the LSU AgCenter’s Get It Growing calendar has provided useful, monthly gardening tips from LSU AgCenter horticulturist Dan Gill, special gardening features, how-to sections and lawn and garden photos from across the state.

“Like the previous calendars, the 2011 calendar will showcase Louisiana gardening and serve as an educational resource for novice and seasoned gardeners,” said Elma Sue McCallum of LSU AgCenter Communications, who is coordinating the project. “It is also filled with beautiful gardening photos for those who just want an attractive calendar.”

LSU AgCenter faculty members will select approximately 40 photographs for the 2011 calendar. A dozen of the photos selected for the calendar will be featured as full-page, four-color images for each monthly page in the calendar, and one will be used on the cover, McCallum said. The rest will be used throughout the calendar.

Photographers chosen for the monthly pages will receive 10 copies of the published calendar, and their names will be included with their photos in the calendar, she said. Other photographers chosen will be credited and receive two copies of the published calendar.

Submissions must be high-resolution digital images on CD (which will not be returned) and submitted with a 2011 Call for Entries form, which can be found by clicking the “Call for Entries” button at www.LSUAgCenter.com/GetitGrowingCalendar. All images must be the original work of the photographer submitting the image. Photographers may submit up to 25 of their best gardening photographs.

The deadline for submissions is January 29, 2010. Entries must be mailed to Elma Sue McCallum, LSU AgCenter, P.O. Box 25203, Baton Rouge, LA 70894.

More details, as well as the entry form, are available online at www.LSUAgCenter.com/GetitGrowingCalendar. For even more information or to ask questions, contact McCallum at 225-578-2462 or e-mail emccallum@agcenter.lsu.edu.

The 2010 Get It Growing calendar is currently being sold through the LSU AgCenter’s online store at www.LSUAgCenter.com/OnlineStore. The calendar also can be purchased by calling 225-578-4161.
