Louisiana Natural Resources Symposium scheduled July 16-17 in Baton Rouge

The LSU AgCenter will host the third Louisiana Natural Resources Symposium July 16-17, 2009, at the Lod Cook Conference Center and Hotel on the LSU campus in Baton Rouge.

The theme of the symposium is “Bioenergy Opportunities for Louisiana,” according to Dr. Todd Shupe of the Louisiana Forest Products Development Center in the LSU AgCenter’s School of Renewable Natural Resources.

“The 2009 symposium will feature papers from leading international experts from universities and private industry covering issues related to bioenergy,” Shupe said.

The target audience includes land managers, foresters, land owners, entrepreneurs, researchers and those interested in this emerging opportunity, he added.

Registration fees are $125 until July 2 and $150 after that date. Registration for students is available at $25 until July 2 and $30 after. The registration fee includes a copy of the conference proceedings, continental breakfasts, coffee breaks and lunch. Booth space and sponsorships are available for interested companies and associations.

This program qualifies for nine hours of continuing logger education credit from the Louisiana Logging Council and 5.5 hours of category 1 and 2.5 hours of category 2 continuing forestry education from the Society of American Foresters.
