ALEXANDRIA, La. – The LSU AgCenter Dean Lee Research Station will hold its annual field day Aug. 20 with presentations for cotton and soybean farmers.
The event will begin with registration at 8:30 a.m. at the Dewitt Livestock facility, and field tours will start at 9 a.m.
A seminar on agritourism has been scheduled in the state evacuation center after lunch.
Cotton production will include presentations by LSU AgCenter specialists Dr. Don Bouquet, an agronomist, Dr. Boyd Padgett, a plant pathologist, and Brenda Tubana, a soil fertility specialist.
The soybean production part of the field tour will include presentations by Dr. Ron Levy, LSU AgCenter soybean specialist, and Rob Ferguson, LSU AgCenter extension associate.
Other field presentations will include LSU AgCenter specialists Dr. Bill Williams and Dr. Daniel Stephenson on weed management, Dr. Roger Leonard on insect control, J Stevens on soil fertility and Donna Morgan on the LSU AgCenter Master Farmer program.
Following lunch at the state evacuation center, Dora Ann Hatch, LSU AgCenter community resource development agent, and Dr. Carrie Castille of the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry will conduct the agritourism seminar.
