La. winners named in Southern regional 4-H horse competition

Louisiana had first, second and third place winners in the Southern Regional 4-H Horse Championships, which was July 28-Aug. 2 in Little Rock, Ark.

In saddle-type geldings (trotting), Robbin LeJuene of Acadia Parish placed first and Allison Newman of Jackson Parish placed third. Dani Anderson of West Carroll Parish placed second in barrel racing.

Other Louisiana winners and their parishes are:

Tie down roping: fourth, Miles Bouvier, Lafourche; ninth, Joshua Burns, Rapides.

Breakaway roping: sixth, Joshua Burns, Rapides; 11th, Bethany Hudspeth, LaSalle; 13th, Miles Bouvier, Lafourche.

Western showmanship: eighth, Morgan Bertrand, Calcasieu; 11th, John Foster, Ouachita; 16th, Abigail Guin, Webster.

Western riding: seventh, Olivia Willcox, Bossier.

Stock-type mares: seventh, Madysen Boudreaux, Lafayette; eighth, Kimberly Hailey, Beauregard; 11th, Michael Mattice, Morehouse.

Barrel racing: sixth, Joshua Burns, Rapides; seventh, Sydni White, Livingston; 15th, Jennifer Broussard, St. Martin.

Hunter-type geldings: ninth, Madison Luquet, St. Tammany.

Hunter showmanship: ninth, Michaela Corb, St. Tammany; 12th, Ariel Pauley, Calcasieu; 13th, Olivia Willcox, Bossier.

Hunter-type mares: fifth, Mary Kendrick, St. Tammany; seventh, Kristie Arceneaux, St. Tammany.

Trail: 14th, Noah Roheim, St. Tammany.

Pole bending: sixth, Joshua Burns, Rapides; eighth, Sydni White, Livingston; 13th, Kortney Lee, Livingston.

In non-riding event, Louisiana winners include:

Horse bowl (quiz bowl) team: eighth, Paige Quebedeaux, Megan Bouvier, Hollie Hunter and Josh McCarthy, Lafourche.

Team presentation: sixth, Hollie Hunter and Paige Quebedeaux, Lafourche.

Horse judging team: ninth, Cassie Karl, Jessica Gill, Jeannie Williams and ShiAnne Wisby, Beauregard.

Public Speaking: sixth, Wyatt Joiner, Tangipahoa; seventh, Cassie Karl, St. Helena.
