LAFAYETTE, La. – The Louisiana 4-H Foundation has announced a gift of $30,000 from the LHC Group, a Lafayette-based health care company.

Eric Eskew, Louisiana 4-H Foundation executive director, said the gift will be used to help fund medical care at Camp Grant Walker, the 4-H camp near Pollock.

“During these times of economic difficulties, this generous donation is especially appreciated,” Eskew said.

Dr. Paul Coreil, LSU AgCenter vice chancellor for extension, added, “The funds will make sure we have adequate medical staff on duty at the camp, and we can meet the special needs of disabled students.”

Support for Louisiana 4-H, such as that provided by LHC Group, is critical to the future of 4-H in Louisiana, Coreil said.

The LHC Group’s chief executive officer, Keith G. Myers, said the donation demonstrates the company’s support of the work by the Louisiana 4-H Foundation to enhance the 4-H youth development programs throughout Louisiana.

“Our company was founded in Louisiana, and it is especially meaningful to us to help others so close to home,” Myers said. “The fact that we are a national health care provider makes us very aware of the importance of quality medical care, and we are grateful for the opportunity to support the availability of quality medical care at Camp Grant Walker.”
