The LSU AgCenter’s annual field day and open house at the Red River Research Station will be held Thursday, Sept. 6, at the station in Bossier City.
The program will highlight research projects being conducted at the research station along with a look at 2007 weather.
Field tours will include an update on corn, sorghum and soybean variety evaluations by Jim Hayes; the effectiveness of a constructed wetland by Dr. Eddie Millhollon and Rusty Anderson; new greenhouse tomato varieties by Dr. H.Y. Hanna; uniform soybean trials by Dr. Blair Buckley and Anderson; and management of cotton nematodes by Dr. Patrick Colyer and Phillip Vernon.
An update on the 2007 pecan crop and an opportunity to learn more about Louisiana Agriculture magazine and other publications of the LSU AgCenter from Mary Ann Van Osdell also will be presented.
The program will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude with lunch at noon. Reservations are requested and are needed by Friday, Aug. 31. More information is available by calling (318) 741-7430.
