The LSU AgCenter’s 2006 Get It Growing calendar provides a variety of special features for Louisiana gardeners, and it’s available for holiday gift-giving.

Now in the second year of publication – 2005 marked the premier – the Get It Growing calendar is packed with gardening hints and tips specifically written for Louisiana’s growing conditions and climate. The 2006 edition, which offers new photos and updated tips, is a unique gift for anyone who enjoys the outdoors or who simply enjoys beautiful garden photos.

The full-color, 32-page calendar features a special section on magnolias, gardening tips for each month of the year and photos of beautiful flowers, vegetables and plants. Its gardening tips were written by LSU AgCenter horticulturist Dan Gill, who is known across the region for his expertise on Louisiana gardening and is the author of Month-by-Month Gardening in Louisiana and co-author of the Louisiana Gardener’s Guide.

The calendar, which is designed as part of the LSU AgCenter’s popular Get It Growing educational campaign on home lawns and gardens, also has an illustrated how-to section on successfully planting trees in your landscape.

It sells for $11.95 and is available for online orders at www.lsuagcenter.com/GetItGrowingCalendar. Sample photos and more information also are available through that site.

In addition, phone orders can be placed by calling (225) 578-4161. The calendar also is available through a variety of bookstores, garden centers and gift shops across the state.

Proceeds from calendar sales will support horticulture scholarships for students, as well as horticulture research and educational efforts of the LSU AgCenter.
