The LSU AgCenter is once again offering Louisiana gardening enthusiasts the opportunity to learn more about their craft and enjoy beautiful garden photos with the publication of its 2006 Get It Growing Calendar.

"This year’s calendar is even bigger and better than the first one we produced for 2005," said Elma Sue McCallum of LSU AgCenter Communications. "We think people who enjoyed this year’s edition definitely are going to want the 2006 Get It Growing Calendar, too, and we hope those who missed out this year will take advantage of our latest calendar."

The full-color, 32-page calendar features a special section on magnolias, gardening tips for each month of the year and photos of beautiful flowers, plants and landscape settings.

The new set of gardening tips for 2006 and a special how-to section on planting a tree come from LSU AgCenter horticulturist Dan Gill, who is known across the region for his expertise on Louisiana gardening.

The 9-inch-by-12-inch calendar, which is designed as part of the LSU AgCenter’s popular Get It Growing educational campaign on home lawns and gardens, sells for $11.95 and is available for online orders at

Sample photos and more information also are available through the Web site. In addition, phone orders can be placed by calling (225) 578-2263.

The calendar also is expected to be available through a variety of bookstores, garden centers and gift shops across the state this fall.

Proceeds from calendar sales will support horticulture research and educational efforts of the LSU AgCenter, as well as potential scholarships for horticulture students.
