Did you know 320 species of birds have been recorded in and around Burden, including common species, such as northern mockingbirds and ruby-throated hummingbirds, seven different woodpeckers, waterfowl and wading birds, and a variety of resident migratory songbirds?

Grab your birding gear and join us bright and early to catch a glimpse of some of these species on a three-hour guided tour lead by different birding specialists through the birding loops at Burden.

StoryTime in the Garden is a creative way of mixing storytelling and imagination with hands on craft activities for children. The program meets one Saturday a month August through May from 9 a.m. - noon. Children ages 3-8 can enjoy storybook readings and imagination-themed activities every half hour. All children participating in the program must be accompanied by an adult. The last reading begins at 11:30 a.m.

Registration is not required and admission is free.

Ring in the Christmas season with a 19th century Louisiana celebration. Musical groups, demonstrating artisans, storytellers, and costumed re-enactors will be present to set the holiday mood. The event will conclude with a bonfire and a very special guest.
