As you prepare youth for interviews, a key thing to remember is that they are very nervous, and sometimes just a tad bit of encouragement and comfort is all they need to get a jump start on preparing. Conducting practice interviews with several different people is a good preparation technique. Potential practice interviewers could be elected parish officials, AgCenter employees, or other youth who have prior experience with the types of interviews your 4-H'ers are preparing for.
Be sure to gather some background information on the organization, contest, or board. This could include researching past conferences, organization goals, or people who have been a part of this organization, board, or contest. What are the goals? What are the expectations?
