Participants will explore rocket safety, simple physics, and aerospace concepts, then build and launch their own beginner rockets. This fun, educational day is perfect for newcomers and curious minds who want to experience teamwork, STEM learning, and the thrill of launch day—no prior experience needed!

Location: LSU LaHouse

Participants should bring their own lunch.

04. Volunteer Appreciation Week

East Baton Rouge 4-H Volunteers Help Youth Become Beyond Ready

During Volunteer Appreciation Week, East Baton Rouge 4-H proudly recognizes the volunteers who make it possible for young people to gain real world experiences that help them become Beyond Ready for life, work, and their future pathways.

With the support of caring volunteers, youth participate in hands on civic learning, leadership development, and community service that turn curiosity into purpose, build strong relationships and a sense of belonging, and expose youth to future college and career pathways. These experiences help youth develop essential skills such as responsibility, communication, problem solving, empathy, and leadership.

In East Baton Rouge, over 60 youth and adult volunteers supported 514 youth through clubs, events, service projects, and educational activities this year—contributing 940 volunteer hours, valued at $29.14 per hour. More importantly, their impact is seen in confident, capable young people who are ready to lead and serve their communities.

Louisiana 4-H volunteers play a vital role in helping youth build character, caring, and accountability while exploring meaningful future opportunities. We are grateful for all they do to help our youth become Beyond Ready.
