EBR Master Gardeners present Pollination and Native Plants at the Zachary Branch Library, April 9

(03/06/26) BATON ROUGE, La. — Is your yard in full bloom? Are the birds, bees and butterflies abundantly flying about? The members of the East Baton Rouge Master Gardener Association want to help you.

On Thursday, April 9 there will be two programs that can make your garden sing — Pollination, followed immediately by Native Plants. They will be held at the Zachary Branch Library at 1900 Church St.

Master Gardener Nancy Jurasinski will use her expertise as a retired science teacher to tell you everything you ever wanted to know about pollination. Jurasinski has been a Master Gardener since 2015 and loves sharing her knowledge with others.

Pollinator gardens are popular because they bring the birds, bees and butterflies into your yard. Jurasinski will help you choose how you can make your yard more pollinator friendly.

Perhaps you would rather get away from the typical grassy lawn. Master Gardener Gaynelle Wolff will introduce you to the many native plants that thrive in our hot, humid climate.

Wolff loves experimenting with different plants in her garden and learning which ones are most successful. Find out which native plants you may want to include in your landscape this year. Many of them are great for pollinators, too.

The first program will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. As always, the presentations are free and open to the public.
