All animals must be in cages or on a leash. 4-H'ers can enter one category, two categories, or all three categories, but they cannot enter two animals in the same category.

Character: Caring

Caring means showing kindness and concern for others. In 4-H, Caring helps build a supportive club environment where everyone feels valued and included. What does Caring look like? It is helping others without being asked, showing empathy when someone is upset, using kind words and actions, volunteering to make a difference, and celebrating others' successes.

Why Are Forests Important?

Forests are so much more than a bunch of trees! They are complex ecosystems that are full of life. In fact, it is estimated that forests are home to 80 percent of the world's land-based plant and animal species. The lives of these organisms are all interconnected. Even the dead leaves that litter the forest floor have an important ecological role of replenishing the soil nutrients that plants need to grow. Below the ground, trees use a network of fungi to share nutrients with each other.
