Precision agriculture to be highlighted at an upcoming event in Alexandria

(11/18/25) ALEXANDRIA, La. — The LSU AgCenter’s Precision Agriculture Summit will be held Dec. 10 at the State Evacuation Shelter, 8125 U.S. Highway 71, adjacent to the Dean Lee Research and Extension Center.

Doors will open at 7:30 a.m. AgCenter administrators will offer opening remarks at 8 a.m., and presentations will begin at 8:30 a.m. A vendor and exhibitor showcase will take place after lunch, which will be provided.

Topics include:

  • Drone regulations by Joe Ingrao of the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry.
  • Sprayer drones by engineer Randy Price.
  • Optimizing sprayer drone parameters for effective insect control by entomologist James Villegas.
  • Precision variable-rate fertilizer applicator by soil specialist Brenda Tubaña.
  • Louisiana climate and digital ag network: Real-time weather data to actionable science by Vinit Sehgal.
  • Advancing site-specific management through computer vision applications by Ivan Grijalva.
  • Remote sensing and digital agriculture by Peng Fu.
  • Artificial intelligence, sensing technologies and robotics in precision agriculture by Congliang Zhou.
  • Economic feasibility in precision agriculture by Raghav Goyal.
  • Panel discussion: Adopting precision agriculture technologies.
