Applications open for internship program offering hands-on ag research experience

(11/10/25) BATON ROUGE, La. — High school and college students can now apply for the Charles and Rose Broussard Internship, which offers hands-on experience in agricultural research.

Established in 2020 through an endowment, the internship program is named for Vermilion Parish farmer and cattleman Charles Broussard and his wife, Rose. Both were deeply involved in efforts to improve agriculture and conservation.

The LSU AgCenter selects one student per year for the internship, which is paid. The recipient may choose to work at the H. Rouse Caffey Rice Research Station near Crowley, the Iberia Research Station near Jeanerette or the Dean Lee Research and Extension Center near Alexandria.

The internship can be completed over the summer or, if needed, at another time of year.

Both part- and full-time students will be considered. Preference will be given to applicants from Vermilion Parish.

The deadline to apply is Feb. 21, 2026. An application form, instructions and additional information about the program are available online at www.LSUAgCenter.com/BroussardInternship.

Send questions to Kurt Guidry, assistant resident coordinator of the Rice Research Station, at KMGuidry@agcenter.lsu.edu.
