Visit the Events page for more information

“Bash on the Bayou” is the annual LSU 4-H/FFA Game Day tailgate tradition. It’s a family-friendly event held on LSU’s campus (near the Mini Farm) that brings together Louisiana 4-H and FFA members, families, and alumni for food, fellowship, and Tiger spirit before an LSU home football game.

This year the Bash on the Bayou game is LSU vs Arkansas.

The kickoff time may have changed, but our 4-H & FFA spirit is stronger than ever! This year, we’re switching things up—no tailgating lunch. Instead, join us bright and early for a Game Day Breakfast Bash filled with food, fun, and Tiger pride.

11. Field Notes (Ag/Horticulture)

What Can We Do With All Those Leaves?

You may have started to notice the trees are changing color and dropping their leaves. Have you thought about what we can do with all of those leaves?

Fallen leaves can be used in many ways. We can put them into a compost pile to recycle them back into nutrients. We can use them as mulch in our flower and vegetable gardens. Mulch helps keep moisture in the soil and prevents weeds from popping up. Mulch also helps protect the plants from cold weather.

Lastly, leaves are an important habitat for many good insects like lady bugs and fireflies. These beneficial insects help eat the insects that cause harm to our plants.
