(09/18/25) BATON ROUGE, La. — On Thursday, Oct. 9, the East Baton Rouge Master Gardeners will offer two programs: camellias and lawn care at the Greenwell Springs Road Regional Branch Library at 11300 Greenwell Springs Road.
Master Gardener Bob Dillemuth has a broad range of garden and horticultural interests, including using native plants, sustainable gardening, gardening for wildlife, maintaining plant diversity and garden design.
Dillemuth is a member and past president of the Louisiana Native Plant society and a certified Louisiana Master Naturalist. One of his greatest loves is camellias, which bring gardens to life in the winter months with their wide variety of colors.
Dillemuth will introduce some of the many camellia varieties and share information on how and where to plant them and how to care for them.
Bert Hammett, LSU AgCenter extension agent in East Baton Rouge Parish, has been serving the parish in numerous ways for the past few years. One of his specialties is lawn care. Fall is the time to act and ensure your lawn will be healthy and pest free. Topics will include fertilizer use, best management practices and a look at diseases and pests commonly seen in our area.
The programs will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. and are free and open to the public.
