Rebuild It: Engineering Design Contest

The Rebuild It: Engineering Design Challenge invites 4-H members to explore the intersection of creativity, sustainability, and innovation. This contest challenges youth to design and build a portable art piece using recycled or repurposed materials, with the goal of raising awareness about environmental issues. The goal of the contest is to:

  • Promote environmental awareness by encouraging the creative reuse of recycled or discarded materials
  • Inspire innovation and design thinking through the creation of functional or expressive art
  • Showcase youth creativity in building portable projects that reflect sustainability and purpose

Eligibility

  • Open to all enrolled 4-H members and Cloverbud members
  • 4-H'ers may enter as individuals or in teams (up to 3 members per team)

Challenge Objectives

Design and build a portable art piece using recycled or repurposed materials that reflects the theme of Environmental Awareness. Your project can be:
  • Functional Art - serves a practical purpose
  • Nonfunctional Art - expressive or symbolic
  • Kinetic/Interactive Art - moves or engages the viewer
