LSU AgCenter opens registration for fall Grazing School

(08/07/25) BATON ROUGE, La. — The LSU AgCenter will offer a Grazing School focused on forage production this fall in Jeanerette.

The school will take place over five sessions, providing information and hands-on experience related to a variety of topics associated with growing forages for livestock operations.

The sessions and dates are as follows:

  • Sept. 12: Soil fertility and health and components of grazing plans
  • Sept. 26: Comparing forage species and weed management
  • Oct. 10: Establishing forages, hay production and supplementation considerations
  • Oct. 24: Grazing behavior, animal health and forage intake and digestibility
  • Nov. 7: Grazing systems, fencing, water supply and economics of grazing

Session times are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. All sessions will be held in the Seafood Lab Training Room at the AgCenter Iberia Research Station, located at 603 LSU Bridge Road.

The registration fee is $150 per participant, and the deadline to register is Friday, Sept. 5. Participation is limited to 30 participants. Lunch and refreshments are included in the fee.
