Dr. Clint Depew served Louisiana 4-H for over 30 years through groundbreaking work in equine science and youth development. With a PhD in Animal Science, Dr. Depew joined the LSU AgCenter in 1977, ultimately serving as Associate Director of the Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service. As the state’s equine specialist, he developed award-winning programs that taught horsemanship, leadership, and responsibility. He was instrumental in creating the Master Horseman Program and established the LSU AgCenter Equine Educational Committee. His video programs and judging materials became national standards for 4-H and FFA. Dr. Depew also managed livestock show facilities and championed agent training and youth opportunities. Even after retirement in 2009, he mentored future leaders and supported equine education. Respected for his integrity, humor, and leadership, Dr. Depew’s contributions have reached thousands of youth and volunteers. His legacy continues to shape the future of Louisiana 4-H and the equine industry across the country.
