A 4-H alumna and lifelong resident of Sweetlake, her agricultural roots shaped her lifelong passion for the program. Darlene led the Grand Lake Junior 4-H Club for 34 years, teaching youth leadership, record keeping, and community service. She organized impactful National 4-H Week activities and supported causes such as local shelters and coastal restoration. Darlene served as superintendent of the parish rabbit show and helped train senior 4-H teams in food and nutrition demonstrations. A reliable presence, she drove buses for camps and trips for 15 years, ensuring youth could participate. Her commitment extended to the state level through service on the Louisiana Food and Fitness Board. Through her dedication, mentorship, and service, Darlene has inspired generations of 4-H youth to reach their potential and give back to their communities.
