Building Science Principles

Course Information:

The Building Science Principles certificate, offered by the Building Performance Institute (BPI), provides a comprehensive review of fundamental building systems and their interactions in regulating the home environment and influencing energy consumption. This certificate serves as a prerequisite for BPI's Building Analyst - Technician Certification.

Additionally, this course is highly beneficial for homeowners interested in understanding the operational dynamics of their homes.

This class is offered online through Moodle and requires either an LSU or a Gmail email address to register. This course can be offered in person upon request, but pricing may vary.

This course fee includes:

  • Interactive instruction that includes review
  • Q&A review as needed for participants
  • Testing code for testing when the candidate is ready - untimed, open notes, independent testing

Who should attend?

Energy efficiency professionals, professionals involved with construction or retrofitting, private contractors, home inspectors and realtors, and homeowner pricing is available for homeowners curious about their home and how it operates as a system.

Certification: This certification is provided through Building Performance Institute (BPI) and is a prerequisite for Building Analyst - Technician certification.

Cost:
$300 registration fee (includes instruction and a code for independent testing)
$50 registration fee for homeowners (no test code or CEU's will be provided)
Note: All fees must be received and cleared prior to the start of class or certificates will not be issued and attendance will not be allowed. There are no refunds; all sales are final. An in-person course date may be changed once for a fee of $20.

Continuing Education Credits:
Passing this test qualifies participants for 6 BPI CEU's. LaHouse is an approved CE provider for the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors and the Louisiana State Board of Home Inspectors.
