2025 Master Cattlemen Program in Winnsboro

The Master Cattlemen Program is returning for 2025, offering a valuable opportunity for cattle producers in Northeast Louisiana. This program, designed to enhance knowledge and skills in cattle management, will run from March 3 to May 5, featuring a series of expert-led sessions.

  • March 3: Animal Health presented by Dr. Christine Navarre.
  • March 10: Animal Nutrition presented by Dr. Marcelo Vedovatto.
  • March 17: Economics and Marketing presented by Dr. Kurt Guidry.
  • March 25: Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) presented by Dr. Christine Navarre.
  • March 31: Animal Handling presented by Tripp Morgan.
  • April 7: Weed Management presented by Dr. Ron Strahan.
  • April 14: Pasture Agronomy presented by Dr. Ed Twidwell.
  • April 21: Reproduction presented by Dr. Ashley Edwards.
  • April 29: Breeding and Selection presented by Dr. Gary Hay.
  • May 5: End Product presented by Tripp Morgan.

Each session will be led by experts from the LSU AgCenter, providing insights and practical knowledge to help improve cattle operations. Whether you are a seasoned cattle producer or just starting out, this program offers valuable information for everyone.

About the Program

Established in 2004, the Louisiana Master Cattleman Program aims to help beef cattle and forage producers enhance their production and profitability through a 10-week, educational curriculum-based program. Participants must complete 30 hours of instruction to become certified Louisiana Master Cattlemen. The registration fee of $200 includes teaching materials, meals, a certificate of completion, and a certified LA Master Cattleman sign. Additionally, participants will receive National Beef Quality Assurance certification as part of the curriculum.
