(01/28/25) BATON ROUGE, La. — As spring approaches in Louisiana, local gardeners are starting to prepare to plant their gardens. To get ready for the season, the AgCenter has announced garden shows happening throughout Louisiana starting in February.
Statewide Seed Swap and Sale, Feb. 8
At the Southern Forest Heritage Museum, the state will be hosting the state seed swap and sale. The event will take place on Feb. 8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Joining the event will be John Coykendall from the Louisiana Public Broadcasting documentary “Deeply Rooted: John Cykendall’s Journey to Save Our Seeds and Stories.”
The address of the museum is 77 Longleaf Road in Longleaf, which is just south of Forest Hill.
Baton Rouge Spring Garden Show, March 7 to 9
The 22nd Annual Baton Rouge Spring Garden Show will be held at the John M. Parker Coliseum on LSU campus from March 7 to 9. The event is supported by the LSU AgCenter and the School of Plant, Environmental and Soil Sciences.

Northshore Garden and Plant Sale, March 28 to 29
The Northshore Garden and Plant Sale will be at the St. Tammany Parish Fairgrounds and will be held by the St. Tammany Master Gardeners Association on March 28 and 29. Each day will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Vendors will sell roses, native plants, daylilies, vegetables, shrubs and trees.
The event also will feature educational speakers, activities for children and concessions. St. Tammany Master Gardeners will be available to answer plant questions.

Southwest Louisiana Garden Conference and Expo, March 28 to 29
The Southwest Louisiana Garden Conference and Expo will be hosted at the Burton Coliseum in Lake Charles on March 28- 29, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. everyday.
The event will include more than 60 vendors, including non-profit horticultural clubs and Master Gardeners as well as businesses selling different plants, furniture and outdoor decorating items. Master Gardeners will also have a plant health booth at the festival and a flower show will be hosted by the Louisiana Garden Club Federation District 7.

Spring Garden and Pet Show, March 29 to 30
The third annual Spring Garden and Pet Show will be held March 29 to 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. The event is presented by River Road Historical Society in collaboration with the AgCenter and Louisiana Master Gardeners. It will be held at the Destrehan Plantation, 13034 River Road.
Visitors will be able to buy from plant nurseries, small businesses and arts and crafts vendors; adopt pets from rescue shelters; attend educational seminars; and enjoy live music. There will also be activities for children, including an arts and crafts tent, a butterfly discovery tent and an Easter egg hunt.

New Orleans Spring Garden Show, April 5-6
New Orleans will be hosting its Spring Garden Show on April 5 and April 6. Both days will go from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the New Orleans Botanical Garden.
The show is sponsored by City Park Conservancy and the AgCenter and the event is supported by Louisiana Master Gardener volunteers.
At the show, there will be exhibits on plant and garden products, as well as educational programs, arts and crafts and a children’s discovery area.

Hammond Spring Garden Day and Plant Sale, April 12
The LSU AgCenter Hammond Research Station will host the 2025 Hammond Spring Garden Day and Plant Sale on April 12. The event will be from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The even will feature exhibits, seminars and advice on gardening along with a plant sale and activities for kids. There will also be concessions for food.
The LSU AgCenter Hammond Research Station is located at 21549 Old Covington Highway in Hammond.
